If you have existing window treatments or getting new blinds try adding a valance for a little more pizzazz.
A window valance is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to add color, flair and personality to your window treatment. A window valance will come in many different styles and colors to fit your decor style.
Whenever my wife and I are redecorating a room many times we will visit model homes. There we find many interesting design ideas. When we were re-decorating our 13 year old daughters room we wanted to incorporate her dreams and interests in her over all decor scheme.
We did many things to accomplish this but one concept that helped tie everything together was her valance. My daughter loves riding horses and now has been riding for many years. She rides 3-4 times every week and would ride every day if she had the time. I did not realize how much work it is caring for a horse. Cleaning there stalls alone is like cleaning a giant cat litter box, but she loves it.
So one of the things we did was buy some material with horses on it in the color scheme of her room . She had a walking stick she found on a walk in a forest while on vacation one time so we took the stick and cut it down and used it as a curtain rod. Mounted it on a couple of āLā brackets and drape the material over it in the shape of a scarf valance.
It cost less than $10.00 for material and brackets. It ties in with the overall theme but most of all it reflects a part of her and hope it made her feel special.
